Patients with mild to moderate multi-infarct or primary degenerative Alzehimer-type dementia received 240mg ginko extract of placebo for 24 weeks. Psychopathological, attention, memory, and assessment of daily life activity significantly improved, demonstrating the clinical efficacy of ginkgo extract in the treatment of Alzheimer-type and multi-infarct dementia. Patients with uncomplicated Alzheimer’s disease or multi-infarct dementia received placebo or 120 mg Egb for 26 weeks. The placebo group worsened significantly, while the Egb group improved slightly on cognitive assessments and daily living and social behavior scores. [Le Bars et al. (2000)]
