Who am I?

My name is Mikiko (Miki) Murakami and I founded Chi Fountain Integrative Medicine in 2003, based on my unsatisfactory results with my multiple left knee surgeries. I was fortunate enough to be assertive, and my healing process taught me that patients need to understand the scope of various medicinal modalities: it is important to understand the philosophies, capabilities, and potential limitations. For example, a medical doctor (MD), a naturopathic doctor (ND), an osteopathic doctor (DO), and an acupuncturist (LAc) may approach the same chronic back pain from a different angle.

I acquired my integrative medicine research experience as a Health Researcher at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA; as a Health Guide at Chi Fountain, I conduct in-depth intakes and help patients learn more about the root of their health conditions and provide them with treatment options. I am also working collaboratively with Metropolitan Medical Group in order to integrate complementary and alternative medicine practitioners into their allopathic environment.

My role at Chi Fountain has inspired me to become an osteopathic physician that can spend time with my patients. Starting Fall 2007, I will be an osteopathic medical student at Touro University and aspire to be a caring, hands-on, integrative family doctor.
